In addition to Woody's River Roo, Pub and Grill, Ellenton is home to dozens of restaurants featuring yummy food at manageable prices. The Anna Maria Oyster Bar features outside waterfront dining, with every kind of seafood imaginable: lobster, shrimp, crab legs, calamari, flounder, tilapia, grouper, and of course, oysters in every permutation possible. Diners can have their oysters fried, steamed, raw on the half shell, or Rockefeller style, made with spinach, herbs, bread crumbs and Tabasco sauce. Another options for seafood lovers is the Crab Trap II, which offers all of the above, plus some exotic choices like gator tail, wild pig, ostrich, octupus, kangaroo and African rock lobster.
For those who prefer their food land-based, the Hickory Hollow and BBQ Ray's Way, both on U.S. 301, feature great barbeque. Hickory Hollow does their 'que up North Carolina style, so if you have a hankering for some Texas style brisket, you might be out of luck.
